  • Residents of Cochrane, Alberta, now have a more environmentally friendly, and socially beneficial option for their obsolete computers and electronics. Computers and Electronics no longer wanted by residents of Cochrane can be taken to TreMar Computer Solutions, listed on our Associates section. From there the equipment will be reused through one of our many donation programs, or recycled. Please bring any old computers, laptops, televisions, to this location in Cochrane.

  • Calgary Drop-in and Rehab Center Society and the Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta, jointly offer a new program to low income residents of Calgary, entitled "CLIC" This new program aims to collect old computers from Calgary and Alberta based businesses, and put any reusable ones into good use by providing them to lower income families in Calgary.   • Computers and Electronics Retailers throughout Alberta, in Calgary and Edmonton, participate in a computer recycling program with the ERA. Small bins are being placed at participating locations to prevent all ewaste from ever reaching the landfills. More info

 

  • Ton of Fun Playcare, a day home, play home, receives some recycled computers from E.R.A. for some of their many children to play or learn on. Computers were installed, and the kids were very excited. Games all around were had by children, at some cases very anxious to get their turn. E.R.A. technicians were on site and this was one of their favourite places. Several other daycares are waiting for computers and TVs, and as soon as some become available they will also be provided with them. More info and pictures

 

  • ESL Academy in Downtown Calgary, one of the finer places for newcomers in Canada to go to and learn English to become contributing members of society, receives some recycled computers from E.R.A. Computers donated were collected from organizations that are a part of the members contributing to various social programs and ensuring that they old equipment is disposal of environmentally.   • The launch of Computer and Electronics Depot locations throughout the country starts in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. To answer the growing demand for proper disposal of computer and electronic equipment, the Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta, and now soon of Canada offers a financial incentive to organizations and individuals who bring down their old computer and electronic equipment to the depot. Loosely based on the Bottle Depot model, these locations will offer a refund on computers, monitors, parts, accessories, and other electronic items, such as televisions, vcrs, satellites, telephone equipment, etc. Unlike other solutions currently available where a fee is charged for disposal of this type of equipment, you are able to receive money back through this program. Refunds range from $0.25 cents for old computers and monitors, $1.00-$25.00 or more for newer and working items, to thousands of dollars for certain mainframe systems and telephone equipment. For more information visit Calgary Computer and Electronic Depot

 

  • Memory Express, Calgary's largest computer retailer, joins the group of retailers to take initiative and prevent items they sell from reaching the landfills after they are unwanted or non working. They are offering to take back your old computer and peripheral at their store on McLeod Trail S.W. Similar to the roundup events help throughout the city, except this is a permanent location.  Items will be collected and put through the programs offered by the Electronic Recycling Association.

 

  • Sector Computer Systems in Calgary's North East offers to take back unwanted and non working computers and accessories at its store. Any individuals or organizations in need of appropriately disposing of their old computer item can now bring it to this location.   

 

  • Another provincial landfill receives its Recycling Center for old computers and electronics. M.D. of Foothills No. 31 Foothills Regional Waste Management Facility received its Recycling Center on May 28th 2004. This Recycling Center will serve the residents and organizations in the High River, Okotokes area. Everyone is encouraged to drop off their unwanted computers and electronics for reuse and recycling into this container. Click for more information.

 

  • Computer and electronic recycling program offered by Electronic Recycling Association and Interspots Inc produces excellent results in preventing this type of waste from reaching the landfills. The E.R.A. and Interspots Inc successfully prevent hundreds of computer and electronic items from being buried forever, and put these items to good use by providing them to different organizations and individuals in need.   • Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta opens a first of its kind Computers and Electronics Depot, where they will accept computers and electronics for reuse or recycling year round. Located in the City of Calgary this new facility will serve as a place where companies and individuals can drop off their unwanted electronic items for reuse or recycling. Items that are accepted include such things as computers, monitors, peripherals, televisions, stereo equipment, and other electronic items.

 

  • Electronic Recycling Association provides computer equipment to The Alex Center in Calgary to help their "Woman on a Shoestring" program. This program is geared towards business woman on low income that could not otherwise afford this type of equipment. Further equipment is being refurbished by E.R.A technicians and will be provided to more individuals in need through this program.

 

  • Electronic Recycling Association provides Engineers without Borders of University of Calgary with computer equipment to be used in their oversees IT training program Scala Project with different schools and organizations.

 

  • John Howard Society and Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta are planning a community event on the 21st of April. This event will be geared towards non for profit organizations and different charities that are in need of equipment to enable their business to operate. All Alberta based non for profit groups and charities are invited to attend and request equipment from the E.R.A.

 

  • Express Computer Store joins the Electronic Recycling Associations list of retailers that accept computers and electronics back for recycling. Their store is in central location where various individuals and organizations will have easy access to. Everyone is encouraged to start using this location as a spot to bring in unwanted computers and electronics.   • Recycle Plus of Calgary Inc. and the Curbside Recycling Association of Calgary are offering citizens of Calgary and area with a pickup service of unwanted electronic items for recycling. With a membership to their association you receive weekly pickups of your electronic items and cardboard, Newspapers, Magazines, Mixed Paper, Milk & Juice Cartons etc.) , Metal, Glass and all Plastics #1-7 ( including all clean soft, stretchy bags and film).   • InterSpots Inc. in Edmonton partners up with the Electronic Recycling Association to reduce Alberta's electronic waste. This Edmonton based organization is accepting electronic items from organizations for recycling. Please contact them directly to schedule a drop off.   • Bowest Appliances in Calgary, Alberta is offering collection of unwanted electronic items such as computers and VCRs for recycling. This joint program with the Electronic Recycling Association is offered at both Bowest locations in the city of Calgary.   • K&W Audio in Calgary, Alberta is now accepting Ewaste from organizations and individuals for recycling. Items such as computers, laptops, amplifiers, stereos, vcrs, etc fit for recycling are collected and disposed of appropriately.   •  Alberta based retirement centers scheduled to receive computers for use in their libraries. Computers ready for internet access will be installed by E.R.A  technicians. Equipment provided will come from Electronic Recycling Centers operated by the Electronic Recycling Association. Any organizations interested in receiving computers, televisions, etc, are encouraged to request equipment.

 

  • Another program launched by the Electronic Recycling Association provides small developing country in Europe, Croatia, with computers for a school in need. All equipment provided was collected by programs operated by the organization. Additional Information

 

  • Ecco Waste Systems Landfill of Calgary and Electronic Recycling Association divert 5 tones of old computers, monitors, and televisions from being buried in the landfill with the "Electronic Recycling Center" on the landfill site. This project has produced excellent results in the 1 month of operation. 

 

  • Electronic Recycling Association pre announces the city wide roundup event to be held throughout the City of Calgary titled "Recycle Your Old Electronics". We will be working with companies in the city providing week long access to Electronic Recycling Centers, to individuals and organizations in Calgary wanting to dispose of their unwanted: computers, televisions, monitors, home electronics, accessories. All usable items collected would be provided to individuals and organizations in need by the programs offered through our association.
